Coverdell Education Savings Account (ESA)

Originally known as the Education IRA, although it has nothing to do with retirement, a Coverdell ESA allows you to put up to $2,000 a year in a tax-advantaged investment account that will be used to pay future education expenses. There's no deduction for contributions but as long as the money is used to pay qualifying expenses, withdrawals are tax free.
